X-MEN: Days of Future Past

I wish I could go back in time and maintain my (somewhat) slim figure when I was 22 years old. From there, I'll get a career in bag designing and make lots of money! How I wish I could turn back time so I can be eternally 22.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be shown in Philippine cinemas starting May 22, 2014.

Sony Xperia Z1 Vs Xperia Z2

Sony has announced the Xperia Z2, the successor to the Xperia Z1 that launched at IFA in Berlin in September 2013.

The Xperia Z2 made its debut at Mobile World Congress 2014 with the tag line "details make the difference". But what has changed in six months since the Xperia Z1 launched and what is different between the two devices?

The Xperia Z2 has a better display
The Sony Xperia Z2 has a slightly bigger display than its predecessor, coming in at 5.2 inches, while the Xperia Z1 has a smaller but still large 5 inch screen. Both phones have a 1920 x 1080 resolution, which given the increased size of the Xperia Z2 means it has a slightly lower pixel density of 424 pixels per inch, compared to the Z1’s 441 pixels per inch.

The Xperia Z2 sounds better
The feature set on the Sony Xperia Z2 is largely very similar to on the Z1. The only real difference is the speakers. They’ve been moved to the front of the handset and deliver stereo sound, akin to what you’d find on the HTC One. The handset also lets you pick between five different audio engines for the perfect sound experience in any situation. The choices are ClearBass, ClearPhase, ClearStereo, Digital Noise Cancellation and xLOUD.

The Xperia Z2 brings camera enhancements
The Sony Xperia Z2 has exactly the same 20.7 megapixel main camera as the Sony Xperia Z1, but the front facing camera has been bumped up from 2 megapixels to 2.2 megapixels and a background defocus mode has been added to the shot selection. The video camera has been given some major updates though. First off, there’s SteadyShot, which is a video stabilisation technology to counteract the effect of shaky hands, for smooth, professional looking videos. The Sony Xperia Z2 also lets you film things in 4K (2160p) at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps or 720p at 120fps, so it can also record video in slow motion, while the Sony Xperia Z1 only allows for 1080p at 30fps. Finally, Sony has also added a few video effects, such as AR and Vine.

Android 4.4 with the Xperia Z2
Perhaps one of the biggest differences aside from the camera and display improvements is that the Xperia Z2 will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat while the Xperia Z1 is still waiting for the upgrade.

The Xperia Z2 is faster
As you would expect with an upgraded handset, the Xperia Z2 brings with it a faster processor compared to the Xperia Z1. The Xperia Z2 features the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood with 2.3GHz quad-core Krait CPUs, compared to the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor in the Xperia Z1. There is also an increase in RAM with the Xperia Z2, offering 3GB compared to the 2GB found in the Xperia Z1. Both models have 16GB of internal storage with microSD support for further storage expansion up to 64GB.

The Xperia Z2 will last longer
The Xperia Z2 has predictably seen a power boost over the Xperia Z1. It has a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM, while the Sony Xperia Z1 has a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.  So it’s not a huge boost, but it should be noticeable and the amount of RAM in particular in the Z2 is impressive.

Still Waterproof and Dustproof
Like most of Sony’s flagship devices, the Xperia Z2 is completely dustproof and waterproof, meaning you won’t have to worry about taking it out in the rain. Sony also claims that it can be submerged one and a half meters deep for up to 30 minutes.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is scheduled for release in the Philippines by 1st week of April 2014. The suggested retail price is Php33,990 and will be available in Sony stores and retailers nationwide.

Starstruck by Chuvaness

March 15, 2014 will probably be a date I will never forget. This was the day when I got to see Chuvaness (Cecile Zamora-Van Straten) in person at Shangri-La Plaza. I have been an avid follower and fan for 5 years and everyday, I become an even bigger fan of hers. This particular event truly deserves a blog entry.

My friend and I had to sort of run after her and a friend because they were walking a bit too fast. Finally, we were able to catch up with Cecile and her friend and I immediately asked for a selfie with her to which she gladly said yes. I was shaking and really excited because it was a dream come true to have a picture with her. After a couple of selfie shots, she shrieked "Ang pangit ko!!!" and my reaction was "Ako rin!!!". LOL!!! I really felt that if we were to be friends, we would get along really well. I love to laugh and I think she does too. I find we have the same sense of humor in some ways.

Anyway, it really made my day, week, month and year to meet her in person. She was even kind enough to throw in a very warm hug and beso. I mean, she didn't even hesitate to do that considering that it was just the first time that she saw us. OMG! Nag-beso sakin si Chuvaness!!! Should I wash my face today???! Tomorrow nalang. I hope I didn't smell sweaty or something when she gave me a hug.

Bubbles ... bubbles. What could have she thought of in case I smelled funny when she gave me a hug? "Saan ba ang nearest washroom dito?" or "I hope I brought my wet wipes in my bag.". or "Shawarma, isdachu?"

I don't think i'll get over it anytime soon. I mean, seeing her and having a selfie with her. Not to mention the hug and the beso. Thank you for being an inspiration to be kind and to love life every single day, Chuvaness.

Preparing For Le Pasoxal's Tuition Fee

If I may say, it's not WHAT you know but WHO you know in the real world. So where can you meet those WHO can be your best connections in the future? In school, of course! Parents, be informed of how much to allot for your child's college tuition as early as now.

And by the way, if your little monster is too young to go to college now, start saving. As per Millionaire Investor Philippines, here's a good idea for example on how much you would have to shell out 14 years from now when the Le Pasoxal is old enough to go to THE Ateneo (as most Atenistas would say it).

Rate of  increase to be used is 10% per annum. Usually tuition fee increase ranges from low of 8% and high of 12%

So there! What are you waiting for? Taya na sa Lotto!

Suzuki Jimny

I may not know a lot about cars but I know for sure that I want a Suzuki Jimny. The streets of Manila may not be the friendliest when you drive a huge and chunky vehicle around. You would most likely end up buying a smaller car to make the most out of your driving skills. Speaking of small, the Suzuki Jimny is everything you can ask for when driving in Manila. You can surely get through the busiest and narrowest streets almost effortlessly.

Sidekic iPhone Tripod Mount

I originally bought this magnificent piece of accessory for my iPhone in November 2012 and I wasn't able to tell you all about it at once. It's a really sleek and useful accessory for iPhone 4 and 4s (only) since it allows you to mount your iPhone on any tripod when the situation calls for it. I was able to get it for Php350 thru You will find a lot of other generic tripod mounts that could fit just about any size of smartphone but I chose this one particularly because of the style and size.

The Sidekic also doubles as a stand for the iPhone when you want to watch something without having to hold it or lay it directly on the table as it gives you a slanted view of the screen.

I tried searching for another Sidekic in and but I wasn't able to find it anymore. Hopefully, some local online sellers will make it available once again.
